Olympic Posters – Alan Clarke

by admin

Here’s a few Olympic proposal posters designed by Alan Clarke which has sparked some debate within the graphic design community. Visually stunning pieces of graphic design, the work has come under some scrutiny amidst claims of being very similar to the fantastic Otl Aicher and 1972 Munich Olympics.

Personally, I am of the opinion that whilst it is clear that he has been influenced by the 1972 Munich Olympics, Alan Clarke has still done a fantastic job. We are all inspired from somewhere and he has shown us some excellent work.

I will leave it for you all to decide by viewing Otl Aicher’s work here. I found Alan Clarke’s designs courtesy of the excellent formfiftyfive blog.

The book features 26 designer toys to cut out and build, and personally I’m loving some of the customs on show. Artists and designers include the legendary Shin Tanaka and BigChief design.

RUN DMC Hoody!

by admin

I had a chance to play with a seriously cool paper toy called Hoody, made by a talented artist from Western Australia, DMC. I just need to let it be known… this was one of my first paper toys, so please excuse the shoddy workmanship! It was loads of fun though and I hope its the first of many.

As a dedication to the creator of the toy, I thought why not create a real Darryl “DMC” McDanels hoody! Check out Tougui for an excellent first custom of “Hoody”. Im sure we’ll see some amazing work.

Visit DMC’s blog here.
