Ok, so things are kinda serious for Black people right now… Currently, the most powerful man in the world is Barack Obama, and some people in the media industry refer to Oprah as the most powerful woman in the world, so for the first time in a looooong time, Black ain’t only about how well you can dance, how well you spit bars and how much your New Era hat cost. Cos from Zadie Smith to Lewis Hamilton, from Tiger Woods to Kanya King, Black people are succeeding in areas that the world never expected. Yet there’s a flipside to all this  around 70% of teenagers murdered in LDN are Black, half of all Black families are headed by a single parent and 12% of the UK prison population is Black. Yep, the flipside’s pretty damn awful. So from the use of the ‘N’ word, to the ‘Gun-Hoe’ attitudes from certain Hip-Hop/grime artists  from the obsession with Louis Vuitton handbags whilst still living on a council estate to beef over stooooopid bulls***… …this book is about what people of all backgrounds seem to get wrong: it defines What Being Black Is, And What Being Black Isn’t.
